Nino Maionica nasce nel secondo decennio del '900 a Trieste; nel 1938 risulta essere in procinto di laurearsi presso il Politecnico di Torino. Successivamente aderisce al Partito d'Azione; dopo l'8 settembre del 1943 prende parte alla lotta di liberazione unendosi ad un gruppo partigiano.
